Husband for adoption - low re-homing fee

My husband said it's him or the dog? So, it was a tough choice, but the dog only takes up part of the bed, and he doesn't steal the covers, so I'm keeping the dog.

Husband has tendency to wander, likes to sleep all day, will play with his balls, isn't house trained, but will beg to go out. Needs fenced yard without grass to mow, a home with plentiful food (favorite food is pizza) and drink (loves beer). Gets along well with other dogs, doesn't much care for cats or children. Has little redeeming value, but he is cute. Comes from a long line of hunters, would love to be your hunting companion. Knows Sit, Heel, Stay, and Down. Doesn't always do them? But he knows those commands, don't let him try to convince you he doesn't. Is current on all shots, pretty healthy, has had his teeth cleaned recently, and is NOT NEUTERED. I'd be happy to help pay for the neutering.

Too good home, fee negotiable, I know I can't get anywhere near what I've got in him back. Comes with 49'ers T shirt, large flat screen TV, and a big truck but only the T shirt is paid for.

If you haven't looked at my blogroll recently you should.....Because it's gotten a crap ton bigger. I've gotten pretty bad at visiting the blogs that I follow so I added them to my blog roll so that I will actually go and comment on them. You should check them out...You never know you might meet some new bloggy friends.

What would you do if you were me? In the last two weeks my brother's fiancee' has tried to kill me twice while driving her car and then last Saturday night she tailgated a car the last few miles on our way to work (we ride together because we work at the same place and basically have the same schedule). With my tax return I was just going to get new struts put in and still go on my girl vacation to Idaho but in light of all that's happened recently I'm wondering if I should get the brakes and rotors done too and start driving myself and put my girl vacation on hold until we go to the Minneapolis PBR event in September?

Dear Beef Council

Dear Beef Council,

You suck and must be punished! To say that I am a little bit upset about your choice for your spokesman is a vast understatement. I happen to enjoy very much the deep gravely voice of Sam Elliot. Every time I hear him say "Beef it's what's for dinner" I start jonesing a steak.


This video is from the movie Ghost Rider...Which I would have seen sooner had I known Sam Elliot was in it.

Now I hear that you have resorted to selling "sex" in order to get people to eat beef. Now I have nothing against Matthew McConaughey but personally I think he's better suited to be "beefcake" rather than the "beef man." You have to admit that I am on to something with this especially after seeing this commerical!

A mini pity party...

Last Thursday I posted a post called "I'm Gonna Drink" where I posted about all the things that have been going wrong in my life since the end of last November. Well I did as I said I was going to do and I had a few beers and had myself a mini pity party....I actually felt good too. The only downside to it was I started drinking on an empty stomach....NOT the smartest idea I've had in a while. To top that off I was making dinner slightly shall we say "fuzzy". All in all it felt good and even though I didn't do it exactly the smartest way I know of dinner still turned out great and I'm hoping that the washer will start working again shortly.

At first I thought connecting with people through Facebook and my blog would be amazing sources of support, and now, I can honestly say that I shocked, and not really in a good way.

Random strangers, people who have never met this amazing girl, have far exceeded the people who should feel some connection to her. Toni is such an amazing girl who has defied so many odds in life. She has been through hell and back. To protect her privacy, and not over share, this recent event is not the only tragedy that she has braved with complete dignity in her life. She is a great mother to two amazing children, and a loving wife to a totally kick ass husband.
She has been dealt a shitty deck of cards, and has always fought to come out on top. By collecting money for this benefit, I really hoped to redeem her faith in others and in humanity in general.

Please don't misconstrue this as unappreciation for what has been done thus far, because the generosity of strangers has been amazing, but more can be done. Times are tight, the economy is suffering, tons of us are unemployed, including me. But each and every one of us could make a small sacrifice. A dollar, anything. There is power in numbers, and I can't think of a better time to unite.

This is the story of a girl

This is the story of a girl and a nickname. When I started out blogging I was "just" Jamie. I was totally content with being "just" Jamie too, but then I found my blogging pal Trainwreck (TW to her blogging peeps) over at Cowboys, Kids and Sunsets. Y'all should seriously check out her blog by the way....she's got a wicked sense of humor and on top of that she's a phenominal artist/photographer! Well getting back to my story....My pal TW gave me a nickname....BITRCountryGirl because my first blog name (before the name change and then all the other troubles I was having) was Bumps In The Road: A Country Girl Trapped In Yuppie "Hell". TW took the first letters of Bumps in the Road and got the BITR and then added the CountryGirl to the end of it and now I'm BITRCountryGirl. But then there was a bit of confusion pertaining to my nickname....people actually thought that I was bitter and I'm really not. So I temporarily dropped my nickname after I moved back here to Blogger but now she's back and ready to take on the blogging world! And in the words of Paul Harvey "now you know....the rest of the story."

You'll notice that the name of this blog has changed. The original name of my blog was Bumps In The Road: A Country Girl Trapped In Yuppie "Hell" when I started blogging....way back when and I've decided that I'm going to "rock it Old School" in bloggy land from now on. Tomorrow I have a post scheduled that explains my nickname and why I temporarily stopped using it but now I'm back and ready to take on the blogging world.

Please Help

I was reading through my google reader (which I'm super behind on by the way) and I found another post from my good bloggy pal Jeannie that I thought that I would pass along on my blog. Courtney from Blogging Matilda wrote this (which I borrowed from Jeannie's blog):

Blogging is a wonderful thing. It creates a space that we can all share our lives, trials and tribulations. It connects random strangers with the best of intentions. Every time we need to share, find consolation, or laugh we turn to each other. The greatest thing is the fact that among us all we have the ability to reach out to thousands, even millions of people (if you’re Dooce). But now, I am turning to you for a little help.One of my oldest girlfriends, Toni, needs help.

Her husband and two children were in a car accident with a tractor trailer truck. Her husband took the brunt of the injuries while trying to maneuver the car to protect his children. The kids are ok, and are only suffering from broken bones. Jamie, her husband, was not as lucky, and is on a long road to recovery. This weekend there is a benefit being held in my hometown to raise money for the family, and the medical expenses that they are facing. Times are tight for everybody. We are all feeling the pinch, however, I am trying to raise as much money as possible to present to them this weekend at the spaghetti dinner fundraiser.

I have posted a widget on my blog to accept donations for the family. I am reaching out to my fellow bloggers in hopes that you might take a moment of your time to repost this information and ask your loyal readers to help out this young, struggling family in their time of need.

Think before you speak...

Here are six reasons why you should think before you speak -The last one is great! Have you ever spoken and wished that you could immediately take the words back...or that you could crawl into a hole? Here are the testimonials of a few people who did....

FIRST TESTIMONY: I walked into a hair salon with my husband and three kids in tow. And asked loudly,'How much do you charge for a shampoo and a blow job?' I turned around and walked back out and never went back. My husband didn't say a word...He knew better.

SECOND TESTIMONY:I was at the golf store comparing different kinds of golf balls. I was unhappy with the women's type I had been using. After browsing for several minutes, I was approached by one of the good-looking gentlemen who works at the store. He asked if he could help me. Without thinking, I looked at him and said, 'I think I like playing with men's balls'.

THIRD TESTIMONY:My sister and I were at the mall and passed by a store that sold a variety of candy and nuts. As we were looking at the display case, the boy behind the counter asked if we needed any help. I replied, 'No, I'm just looking at your nuts.' My sister started to laugh hysterically. The boy grinned, and I turned beet-red and walked away. To this day, my sister has never let me forget.

FOURTH TESTIMONY :While in line at the bank one afternoon, my toddler decided to release some pent-up energy and ran amok. I was finally able to grab hold of her after receiving looks of disgust and annoyance from other patrons. I told her that if she did not start behaving 'right now' she would be punished. To my horror, she looked me in the eye and said in a voice just as threatening, 'If you don't let me go right now, I will tell Grandma that I saw you kissing Daddy's pee-pee last night!' The silence was deafening after this enlightening exchange. Even the tellers stopped what they were doing. I mustered up the last of my dignity and walked out of the bank with my daughter in tow. The last thing I heard when the door closed behind me, were screams of laughter.

FIFTH TESTIMONY:Have you ever asked your child a question one too many times? My three-year-old son had a lot of problems with potty training and I was on him constantly. One day we stopped at Taco Bell for a quick lunch, in between errands. It was very busy, with a full dining room. While enjoying my taco, I smelled something funny, so of course I checked my seven-month-old daughter, she was clean. The realized that Danny had not asked to go potty in a while. I asked him if he needed to go, and he said 'No'. I kept thinking 'Oh Lord, that child has had an accident, and I don't have any clothes with me.' Then I said,' Danny, are you SURE you didn't have an accident?' 'No,' he replied. I just KNEW that he must have had an accident, because the smell was getting worse. Soooooo, I asked one more time, 'Danny did you have an accident?' This time he jumped up, yanked down his pants, bent over, spread his cheeks and yelled 'SEE MOM, IT'S JUST FARTS!!' While 30 people nearly choked to death on their tacos laughing, he calmly pulled up his pants and sat down. An older couple made me feel better, thanking me for the best laugh they'd ever had!

LAST BUT NOT LEAST TESTIMONY:This had most of the state of Michigan laughing for 2 days and a very embarrassed female news anchor who will, in the future, likely think before she speaks. What happens when you predict snow but don't get any! We had a female news anchor that, the day after it was supposed to have snowed and didn't, turned to the weatherman and asked: 'So Bob, where's that 8 inches you promised me last night?' Not only did HE have to leave the set, but half the crew did too they were laughing so hard!

Snickerdoodle Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

1 Tablespoon Sugar
1 Tablespoon Ground Cinnamon
1 Cup Shortening
1 1/2 cups Sugar
2 Eggs
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
2 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 teaspoon Salt
2 Teaspoons Cream of Tartar

INSTRUCTIONS:

In a bowl combine 1 Tablespoon sugar and cinnamon; set aside. In a second bowl, cream shortening; gradually add 1 1/2 cups sugar, beating well. Add eggs; beat well. Stir in Vanilla.

In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, salt and cream of tartar. Add sifted ingredients to creamed mixture; stir until well blended (I acutally had to get in there and kneed with my hands). Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in cinnamon/sugar mixture.

Place snickerdoodles 2 inches apart on baking sheets. Bake cookies at 400 degrees for approximately 6 minutes (mine needed a couple minutes longer) or until lightly browned. Remove from baking sheet to wire racks for cooling

We Are Trashy

One of my new bloggy pals Becky over at In The Trenches recently did a post about animal rescue stories. So here is my animal rescue stories. My family has always been big on rescuing animals in need. Both of our dogs are both rescues actually. My mom always wanted to have a Cocker Spaniel because she had one growing up on her families farm in Illinois....Apparently this dog was a PHENOMINAL farm dog. Well my mom got it into her head that we needed a Cocker Spaniel. My parents didn't want the "hassel" of a puppy when there are soooo many adult dogs out their that need loving homes also. My brother and I told my grandpa that we were FINALLY getting a dog and that we were getting a Cocker Spaniel. Well the animal shelter in the county that he lives in would put a description of all the new arrivals on the local radio station, just incase someone might be looking for a lost pet or to adopt a new pet. Well one day a Cocker Spaniel/Labrador Retriever was surrendered and my grandpa went and snatched her up for us. That is how we got our Shawna.

We recently had to put Shawna to sleep. Her quality of life was going down hill super fast and there was a really good chance that she had cancer too. She lived to be almost 20 years old and we miss her a lot. Which brings us to Laci, our 6 year old Cocker Spaniel....we actually got Laci to be a companion for Shawna. Personally, I think it was one of the best idea's we've had in awhile. We adopted Laci out of the same shelter that Shawna came out of too....Great people to work with when it comes to adopting a pet. We found Laci by accident actually. My parents were watching the news one night and they did a feature on a Animal Cruelty case at this particular shelter and Ms. Laci made it onto TV. We went down to the shelter a couple days after we originally saw the piece (after we took some time to think about it a little bit) and adopted this loveable lug who INSISTS on sleeping on the bed (under the covers if she can get there...if she can't under HER blankie will suffice), snores really loud and is horribly SPOILED:




So yup we're trashy and we wouldn't have it any other way. What about you, anyone else out there trashy like us?

The NFL announced today that for financial reasons they had to eliminate one team from the league.

So they've decided to combine the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and form one team, causing many layoffs but saving millions of dollars in costs, they will be known as the..........

TAMPACKS.

Unfortunately, they're only good for one period and have no second string.....

Smiley Face at Wally World

This lady was in the checkout line at the local Wal-Mart in Beautiful Downtown Porter, TX. Her hubby was with her and apparently either didn't notice or is just plain evil and didn't tell her about her fashion faux-pas. Wonder if he was pridefully puffed up at all the attention her junk in the trunk was getting or if he just figured he'dget even with her for something or other. Brings new meaning to What Not To Wear - but Be Happy!!! Thought y'all would like a giggle - - -Wonder if that's her standard "go to Wal-Mart underwear"???

I'm gonna drink!

EDIT: I'd just like to say "Thank You" for all the words of encouragement that I recieved from all my bloggy pals out there. I really appreciate it. I hope that everyone has a great weekend. GO STEELERS! Now I'm off to knit and/or watch a movie I can't decide which at this point.

I couldn't catch a break if it jumped up and bit me in the ass right now. So far I really haven't had pretty much anything good happen to me since the day before Thanksgiving. Let's recap shall we:

1. The day BEFORE Thanksgiving we put our dog to sleep.

2. December 4th the AC compressor in my car completely seizes up which put me in the hole $1,200.

3. As a result of #2 I'm in debt to the Bank of Dad for $1,200.

4. I have a whole list of repairs that I need to have done to my car.

5. I need to have new struts put on my car because the spring in the strut on the front drivers side is broken and has actually punctured 2 tires to this point.

6. As a result of number 5, I have been no where or done anything really "fun" in MANY WEEKS.

7. Our washer has pretty much decided that it's just not going to work anymore and because I happened to be the person using it when it decided this I am the one who is going to catch hell for it.

So as a result of the above list, I have decided that I am going to drink and possibly cry some and maybe tomorrow things will look a little better. That's my hope anyway.

Houston, We have Hotel!

As I've posted before, my friend Ashley and I are going on another one of our Girl Vacations to see our favorite group of guys...Our PBR bullriders/Cowboys extraordinaire. This morning I made hotel reservations at the Holiday Inn Express across the highway from where the event is actually being held. The nice lady at the desk who was helping me make my reservation was able to knock a $129.99 a night room down to $89.99 a night for us even (She's my hero right now). I am getting SOOOOOOOOOOOO excited about this trip right now it's not even funny!

On another note, a couple months ago I rearranged my room and put my 2009 PBR Hunks calendar in a "safe place." Well it's now the 15th of January and I just found my calendar this morning. We almost had to declare a State of Emergency....It was pretty touch and go for a little while there.

My New Addiction and De-Cluttering....

So I got a $25 iTunes giftcard for Christmas and I spent the whole thing and then some on audiobooks. As I'm writing this post I'm downloading Killer Angels by Michael Shaara (soon to add Gods and Generals to the list too), I've also downloaded Nights in Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks, P.S., I love you by Cecilia Ahern, and Dirty by Megan Hart.

I'm in the process of trying to de-clutter my room (which I really need to get back to) and so far I'm sucking pretty miserabley at it. There is soooo much junk laying on my floor right now that I'm actually embarassed....I can not believe I have soooo much stuff. Most of which I really don't need, which will either be going into trash or into my bags to go to Goodwill or St. Vincents (which take up most of my closet and a corner of my room right now). I've got 3 laundry baskets of laundry I need to do and actually put away this time (getting it done isn't the problem, putting it away is the problem). I'm in desperate need of a paper shredder and we don't have one that actually works.

It's colder than HELL here in Wisconsin AGAIN! I think I heard that with the wind chill figured in for Wednesday night it was supposed to be between -35 and -45 degrees below 0. I heard that the high for Thursday is supposed to be -6 degrees but with the wind chill factor it's supposed to feel more like -20 to -35 degrees. I can hardly wait....Have I mentioned that I am NOT a big fan of winter?

If anyone hasn't noticed I haven't posted since Monday morning. I apologize for that I've been trying to fight off a bitching migraine that I think I inadvertantly gave myself. I was out shoveling my drive on Friday morning and must of tweeked my neck just enough that I've been in serious pain since Friday night. So I've been dealing with that for now and working on my knitting projects....Oh and I am in the process of downloading my first audiobook off of Itunes sounds really interesting.

I know that I've been tagged and have things waiting for me at other blogs....I promise I'll come get them and share with all my peeps....I just got to nip this horrible pain in my head in the bud first.

The boom has been lowered, complete with some Yumminess!

The boom has finally been lowered on some of our more "special" team members at work. Apparently, on Thursday night during our nightly huddle our team leads made it crystal clear that if you get caught burning your pulls (saying you pulled something when you really didn't) it is grounds for immediate termination. All I can say about that is it's about dang time. There is a small select group of people you seem to be able to pull pulls that are supposed to take over 1 hour to pull (where we pull product from our stockroom that has been purchased throughout the day) in less than 15 minutes.

I am SOOOOOO excited that my Pittsburgh Steelers have made it to the final 4 teams in the playoffs! Which brings me to this "interesting" little tidbit....One of my co-workers thinks that football season is just NOW starting. I can't even tell you the rest of the story because I was too shocked by what she had said that I can't remember it.

Is it sad that I enjoy watching my Cocker Spaniel slide across our new floors into things, like doors, door frames, dishwashers, etc.? Does that make me a bad doggy mommy?

It's snowing AGAIN!

It's snowing again here in the great state of Wisconsin. I wish it would stop. I'm ready for it to be spring again....Does anyone second that? I'm ready for sunscreen and 60-70 degree weather, but I'll settle for no more snow for a few days at least.

I just wanted to let you all know that I did put comment moderation on any post older than 7 days....That way I know who's commenting on my older stuff. Repost - Blessings Bloggy Friend Edition

It’s Friday again and usually I do a post about all the things that I’m thankful for that happened during the week. This week I’m doing a little something different and I’m picking a certain “area” of my life to blog about. This week I’m gonna talk about all my bloggy friends! You know who you are!

I’m ALWAYS thankful for my bloggy friends because it really doesn’t matter what’s going on on my blog…..whether I’m complaining about my dog (who can be a real pain in the butt) or launching into a tirade about how our new boss at work is jerking us around and treating us unfairly….there’s always someone out there on my blog list that will say something extremely encouraging and I always feel a TON better.

As I’ve posted before I’m trying to lose a bunch of weight before my trip to Idaho (to see my cowboys again) in April and I’m always getting words of encouragement from my bloggy peeps and my new bloggy peeps…..Encouragement like that from people that I don’t know personally other than through their blogs means a lot to me and keeps me going to reach my goal.

Basically this week my blessings are to you my blogging peeps. Love you all and can hardly wait to see what’s going on in your neck of the woods!

The Giant Wave....

I try to very rarely post about my job here on my blog. There are a lot of things that I like about my job but there are even more things that I DON'T like about my job that if I posted them here and someone found it and turned it over to my big boss, well it could cost me my job, so I just don't. Well today, I'm kinda throwing caution to the wind and posting about our "Giant Wave" thing that we have going on at work.

Here's a little info about our store. On the overnight side of things the layout of the store is broken down into "waves." For example, we have the infants wave (which is all the baby stuff minus 90% of the clothes, toys, sporting goods and luggage), the middle wave (which is auto, chemicals, domestics, and plastics), the front wave (which is the office supplies, small appliances and kitchen gadgets), then there is softlines, H&B, Electronics, market and a couple of smaller areas in the store that are assigned to one or two people to complete before their shift is over.

Now on to the "Giant Wave." The people who aren't assigned to area's like softlines, H&B or the other smaller area's of the store make up the "Team Wave" (which is what I refer to as the "Giant Wave"), which is usually about 10+ people who work each wave in the store as a group before moving on to the next wave. In the beginning of the "Giant Wave" it was run soooo inefficiently that I hated it. Then Christmas came along and we hired some real "winners" that made being a part of the "Giant Wave" completely unbearable. You have to work TWICE as hard because these people don't feel that they have to do anything.

Well now that Christmas is over and all the "winners" are no longer with us, thank God for the term "SEASONAL Employment!" The "Giant Wave" is running much smoother these days and we're actually getting all the work done with time to spare. I still hate it, just not as bad as at the beginning.

To Moderate or Not that is the question?

For a little while now I've been moderating my comments just to test the waters a little bit and I've noticed that recently the comments have dropped off drastically. I've found that I had better success with commenting when I was not moderating my comments. So my questions to you are: What are your feelings on moderating comments? Do you moderate your comments or would you ever consider moderating your comments? Do you tend to not comment on blogs that have comment moderation enabled and why?

Is it wrong....

That I'm jealous of Ree over at The Pioneer Woman? I LOVE her webpage and wish I had one like it too. I know there's a whole lot of marketing stuff that went into making her webpage the way it is today but I'm still jealous. Is it sad that I've considered e-mailing her and asking the secret to her success? Now that I've put that out there lets move on....

I went out and purchased a crap ton (in layman's terms, LOTS) of yarn to start working on knitting gifts for next Christmas already. I can hardly wait to start on my next project! But first I have to finish my scarf and get pictures of it posted so you all can see it. I SO have to get better about finishing one project before I start another.....I am SO bad at that right now.

I find this pretty unusual....Usually I watch A LOT of TV/Movies but in the last week I've watched MAYBE 2 or 3 hours TOTAL. I've been doing A LOT of knitting and blogging in that time. Since I'm not really going anywhere for a while with the current state that my vehicle is in I guess it only makes sense...But I still find it odd.

Can anyone tell me why Blogger felt the need to "eat" both of my blog lists? That does NOT make me happy! I've got a couple added back in but I MUST get something other than blogging done today, so I'll probably be working on it over the next couple of days, so please bear with me.

Well I think that's pretty much it for now at least.

An oldie but a goodie.....

I was looking through my really old Blogger blog (well 3 blogs ago anyway) and I found the following post....It made me giggle so I thought that I would share it with you too.

Well last night at work was pretty uneventful. Boring to be blunt. Well that was until I was told to rearrange the cooler. It was pretty much rearranged and sorted by pull group (we pull things from our stockrooms to replenish what our store's guests purchased during the day). The only real problem that there was in the cooler was there wasn't much moving around room due to three pallets of milk in the cooler. Two pallets were just your basic different types of milk, the third was a pallet of Silk soy milk. After I was done tweaking the cooler I was to put the cases of Silk up on top of the shelving that we have in our cooler....Now each case had 6 1/2 gallon containers in it and after about the 10th one they started getting really heavy! And 90 minutes it took me to get the whole pallet put up, because I had to start over. Apparently, I was not putting the cases up the way I was supposed to or something of that nature. So now as a result of this project I am not a big fan of Silk. But in the word's of Stewie from Family Guy ..... "Victory is MINE!"

Well I think I've mastered 1 or 2 so far but with time and practice I'll get more "mastered." I've changed my blog background again....I went with a springy feel.....Hoping it will make this miserable winter we're having a little more bearable. My mission to eliminate clutter in my blogs sidebar has come to a halt....I've added just some of the blogs that I read back into my sidebar (I missed having you "guys" there.) I've almost completed my first major knitting project...The scarf that I was going to give my mom for Christmas but I didn't get it done in time. No pictures of it yet but I'll post some when I get it done. Also on the knitting front, I taught myself how to do the purl stitch...It wasn't nearly as hard as my brother's fiancee made it out to be.

I'm going to put this shout out too....Y'all should stop by my blogging pal Tara's blog. Tara and her husband Michael (also known as Oby) have a little girl named Chole that is a real inspiration to a lot of people (Click Here to Learn more about Chole), see Chole has West Syndrome (a seizure disorder) as well as some significant developemental delays. I LOVE checking out Tara's blog because it seems like there is another "little" miracle everyday. You'll be hooked...I know I was.

Now I'm off to watch Sabrina....The one with Harrison Ford....Unfortunately I haven't seen the classic version yet.
