Dear 2011 or whoever is listening/reading,

I hope that you are MUCH better than 2010 has been to me.  2010 has really kicked my ass and I really don't like to have my ass kicked without my permission...Thank you very much!  The upside to 2011....My car will finally be paid off!  I've been paying on it for 6 years and it will finally be MINE!

Really all I want is no more "when it rains, it pours."  I want smoother sails than the past year (or couple years if I'm being honest) have been. I don't want my car to have anymore problems like it has the past 2 years around Christmas time.  I don't want as much drama at work.....I'm well on my way to that after I switched my schedule in September, but if you could help out a little bit that would be greatly appreciated too.

I really can hardly wait until I can say that I'm debt free...which is a LONG ways off but I'm headed in the right direction...hopefully. I'm hoping that Dave Ramsey can help me get back on the straight and narrow.  Have you heard of Dave Ramsey 2011?  They say he's THE guy if your trying to get out of debt.  That he's actually lost a small fortune and was up to his eyeballs in debt.  We'll see won't we?!

I'm also looking forward to learning more knitting stitches.  Right now I know about 2 stitches.  Maybe even try my hand at crocheting?  I know people who can teach me both, I just have to follow through.

See 2011....I have plans!  They may not be HUGE plans but it would NOT be wise to screw with my temper!

Banana Silk Yarn

Yesterday when I was visiting The Cat and The Crow I found a rather interesting kind of yarn...Banana Silk Yarn.  It's a little bit on the pricey side ($12 a skein) but so far I have been having great success with it.  I'm making a scarf out of it and it's coming out really nicely.  I'm using the "Downpour" color and I really like it alot.

Hello Blog World!

Welcome to my brand spanking new knitting/personal/getting out of debt/sewing/what-ever-else-happens-to- tickle-my-fancy blog, Sheepless In The City.  Why Sheepless In The City?  Well, I've recently found that in our town we have a really nice yarn shop called The Cat and The Crow that is just chuck full of wonderful bits of fiber that at some point I want to learn how to spin into yarn.  Plus, I can't have livestock in town.  Apparently, the neighbors frown upon that.

I am owned by my 2 dogs Laci and Augusta ("Gus") who LOVE it when I am sitting down or laying down to read or knit.  That way they can curl up next to me or sit in my lap and "help" me.  They actually are pretty decent helpers...if you consider snoring loudly helpful.

Speaking of reading...I have 3 different book blogs where you can read reviews of what I've been reading lately. For YA/MG reviews you should head towards For The Love of YA, for romance/erotica you should head towards Nitty Gritty Romance and Erotica Reviews, for everything else please visit The Book Junkie's Bookshelf.

So for now I'm going to leave you....so I can go out and visit all the nifty blogs that I've found recently.  Because if I told you everything I know right now....what am I going to blog about later?!

Frozen Lace

Looking at the ice along the creek bank, you can almost see what looks like frothy lace on the bottom of a fancy dress. Really pretty.

Black Earth Creek

This is a pic of the Black Earth Creek near Black Earth, Wisconsin. One of the best trout streams in the state. Still enough snow to make the trek along the creek bank a little bit of work. But worth it! The two weather stations I listened to this morning have really widely different forcasts for the next few days. Interesting how 2 well educated professionals with the same data can't decide if it's a dusting of snow or 6 inches.

Winter Looks Pretty

I've been out with the camera. This is Hyde Mill near Ridgeway, Wisconsin. The weather guru is thinking that we should get to above 30 degrees today. Whahoo! That means I only need two layers when I'm outside. And I won't be visiting with Mr. Shovel today!

Look What You Can See When The Leaves Are Gone

One nice thing about winter… no leaves on the trees. You can see the folks who usually are hidden from view. I spotted this owl along the road on my way home from work. He did not seem the least bit bothered by all the cars whizzing by.

Ok...Back To Winter

I don’t know if you can see how amazingly huge this ice wall is, but it’s HUGE. We went to Governor Dodge State Park, near Dodgeville, Wisconsin to do a little hiking. This is Stephan Falls. In all the visits I’ve made to the park I had never been to the falls. I hate to admit I really hadn’t paid a lot of attention to the fact they were even there. Boy did I make a mistake! We hiked over to the falls, which was a really easy hike on the packed snow. And then wandered along the valley trail until we reached another cross trail. If your close by swing by the park and take a look. Even though the temperature was only +5 we were not really cold, because we were down in the valley so there was no wind to contend with.

For a little perspective, you can see my Mom standing in front of a wall of ice facing Stephen Falls. She’s 5 foot 8 inches tall.
